After she graduated at the end of 2015, she was directly hired as the Human Resources Manager at the Hotel Le Suisse Majestic 4* in Montreux, Switzerland. A job that Alexandre Gosselin, also a Vatelien, had for the past 15 years!
“Miss Dore, you made the right choice”
“The hospitality industry was sort of a coincidence for me. I’d always liked creating, organizing, and coordinating events for my family. Especially weddings. And that’s how I understood that:
- team work,
- the quest for customer satisfaction and
- passion that each hotel manager has,
would make this line of work my vocation.
I discovered Vatel Paris in a student fair. What I really liked was that practical application and internships were a true part of the curriculum.
I took the entrance exams for other schools and was accepted there too, but Vatel’s reputation and the high quality of its courses quickly clinched the deal for me. Vatel is a school that gives you great opportunities throughout the world.
Just as an anecdote, one evening when I was working at the Vatel Paris Restaurant, I waited on the person who was in charge of the Troyes Business School’s entrance exam. She recognized me right away and said, “Miss Dore, you made the right choice.” So it was a good thing that I followed my instinct.
I’ve got great memories of my practical application weeks in the School’s application structures, and how they allowed me to understand and appreciate the importance of team spirit. I’ve also got excellent memories of my internships at the Hotel Christopher in Saint Barth and at the Fairmont Mont Carlo. They allowed me to travel and brought me good technical bases."
A room with a view on employment
"The success of a company is based on how well its teams are managed. I’m convinced that this idea is true and that’s why I decided to do my Specialization for the MBA Vatel in Martigny.
In particular, I learned how to:
- be a legitimate leader,
- federate my teams,
- mobilize my human resources,
- transform my individual problems into collective strengths.
I started my professional life as a result of an emotional reaction and an opportunity that I provoked. I fell in love with the Chalet RoyAlp Hotel & Spa in Villars-sur-Ollons on a day when I was accompanying first year students with Mr. Neil Koolmon, who is the Vatel Switzerland Career and Internships Manager.
I phoned them a few days later to apply for a job with them in their management training function. I was accepted right away and hired as soon as I had finished my mission.
After that I got my current job thanks to the Vatelien network, which is very active and large in Switzerland. The person I’m replacing was herself a Vatel Paris 2001 alumnus.
My daily goal is to develop pride in my teams in the Majestic, so that they’ll be able to transmit positive energy to our guests.
My function as a mediator between the expectations of senior management and the needs of the employees is not always an easy one, because I have to be objective, intransigent but nonetheless, comprehensive."
I really like my job and I’m also very happy to have stayed in Switzerland for the beginning of my career. The country’s touristic wealth and safety gives us a great quality of life.
For now, my ambition is to gain more experience in my functions and put all the projects that I’ve got for the hotel in place. This adventure has just begun!
